The flexible hybrid material “Wooden Textile” has been developed by Elisa Strozyk in 2009 using an innovative technique to merge wood and textile. Each wooden triangle is placed by hand on the textile base material to create floating solid patterns.

The processes to transform wood into a flexible wooden surface is its deconstruction into pieces, which are then attached to a textile base. Depending on the geometry and size of the tiles each design shows a different behavior regarding flexibility and mobility. The technique is combining the traditional technique of marquetry with innovative textile design. The material can be transformed from the flat surface to sculptural three-dimenisonal shapes.

The Wooden-Textile can be applied in various ways, it can be mounted on surfaces to decorate walls and furniture. In it’s transparent version it is often used as curtains, room dividers or hanging screens. Using aluminium at the backside the wooden-textile can transform into three-dimensional shapes applied as wall-sculptured. Transisting between the world of Art and Design Elisa Strozyk’s studio has specialized for 17 years in high-end design projects to accompany private clients, architects and designers to realize customized artworks for their interior projects.
